Stand By Me Building Updates
Stand By Me Student Center
Most of our clients live on less than $30,000 a year per family. Studies have shown the long-term effects of persistent poverty children are devastating. HCDBM is deeply committed to help change the trajectory for children who live in at-risk or persistent poverty situations.
In response to our commitment to year round programming an investment was made to expand and convert our existing utility building into a permanent home for the SBM program.
Thanks to many incredible donors and building partners we are excited to announce we are close to complete. The Stand By Me Student Center will house the Stand By Me At-Risk Student Mentoring Program (SBM) which serves children K-12th grade. This facility will accommodate case managers and SBM operations as well as serve as a mentor/ mentee destination. SBM’s year round programming: First Steps, Real Life-early intervention programming, mentor and parent training and Summer Leadership Academy will also utilize the facility. With the region’s population on the rise and the record numbers of requests for help, HCDBM took steps to ensure that we could meet the new and existing needs of our growing population. The Equipping Campaign includes the conversion and expansion of an existing utility building into a 4000 sq. ft. home for the Stand By Me Student Mentoring Program (SBM) for at-risk students, K-12th grade.
